Poetry

Jani says, "Leave a note of Poe's lines:

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love,
I am my Annabel Lee,-
With a love that he winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

If you're not moved by the work of a guy who married his thirteen-year-old cousin, compose your own."

I have never cared for Poe myself. He was far too dark for my liking. But there are lots of great love sonnets out there and once in a while I have been known to write my own, sonnets, I mean-not great ones by any stretch- so maybe I will give it a swing. I will let you know. Whatever I come up with, Allen will be on the road both Wednesday and Thursday, so I hope to tuck it in his car for him to find while he is on the road.

I have lots to say on comments from the last few days... I have been very limited in my internet time this week... but I will be back when time allows. Keep that good stuff coming ladies!

  1. Good Morning!

I have never been one much for poetry. I guess there is some good stuff written out there, somewhere…

    I could write for him…

    How do I love thee,
    Let me count the ways…

    and then make a list.

Or, I could try by searching the internet for something perfect…if I have the time. ☺

  2. Good morning~

Hi, Hope! (waving furiously) I am not a poet nor have I ever been into poetry. I never did well in school when we covered that! lol

I couldn't write a poem to save my life, so for this one, I am going to have to search the internet to find one that is perfect for My Skippy Man. That shouldn't be to difficult! :> )

    Blessings~

  3. That's the spirit ladies! I found a wonderful poem by Anne Bradstreet entitled, "To My Dear and Loving Husband." Quite lovely and says more than I could.

    Happy Wednesday!

  5. I am totally sending him a haiku. I have never understood poetry, nor can I write it -- unless it rhymes and my girls are able to recite it with me in order to get them to behave or use the potty correctly. :-)

So, a haiku it will be.

  6. Laura,

Popping over to check it out. By the way, I've been wanting to ask you since last summer where the name skippy came from???

    Mommy,

Technically Haiku is poetry so you are all in the business, girl.

    Hope,

Have you seen Roger Rabbit? There is a scene where Roger says he wrote a poem for Jessica... How do I love thee, let me count the ways, one one thousand, two one thousand...

    Love you ladies!

  8. Well, I wrote my poem but dear Allen has been gone so much this week he only just found it today... which sort of defeated the purpose of him having it to think of me while he was running all week. How did your alls poetry work out?

    Love ya!
